Show Producer Della Hillerman has announced that The 2019 Non Pro + Open Show in Ardmore, OK has added a NEW mid-level division to the Limited Aged Event Open and Non- Pro divisions which along with the Limited division will give cutters a more level playing field.
“We are striving to offer a format that keeps our Open & Non Pro strong and moving forward in our industry while preserving the Amateur divisions to the high standards they have reached. Every single cutter and owner is important to our staff and we want you to come and join us for a great family fun-filled affordable event”
THE PURPOSE: To offer a class that allows all riders a division to show in with a sizeable amount of added money, their own purse, their own finals, yet not taking away from any other division while doing so. It will also give riders who are not currently as competitive at the top level a chance to compete in a lower division against their true peers based on their performance over the last three years.
HOW: By emulating what other equine professions have done using their format to offer the mid level division in the LAE Open and Non-Pro. By using their example of class structures there will be three divisions that are available in both the Open and Non Pro. For the “Limited” divisions, the level is based on overall total lifetime earnings whereas the “Mid” and “Top” two levels are based on the earnings over the past three years for a more accurate assessment of current horsepower and ability.

HOW DOES THAT WORK?
By adding a “Mid level” we hope to give riders more opportunities to win money and an incentive to show in both classes. This has proven successful in other associations and we thought it could help build more entries and grow participation in our industry. This will also hopefully encourage some of the more accomplished Amateurs to step up and compete in the Non Pro divisions knowing they have a better chance to win money in these divisions without having to compete solely in the Top Non Pro level.
